BOOK OF THE VAMPIRE

BRUCE PENNINGTON HAS LARGELY retired from active illustration but he does still engage with it from time to time when his interest is sufficiently aroused, as with this book published in the autumn of 2008 and written by Nigel Suckling. It is a review of vampires in mythology, folklore and literature, loosely focussed on Bram Stoker's Dracula since that is the novel most responsible for the monster's modern notoriety. Copies are available from Amazon and Barnes & Noble, or directly from the publisher HERE.

MANY OF THE ILLUSTRATIONS were actually done in colour, even though the intention all along was to print in black and white - to give the book a suitably gothic feel. Below are some of the coloured originals.
